All Jeep CJ Series Vehicles use the same basic suspension design; solid axles front and rear suspended by leaf springs positioned below the axles. Black Diamond is world renown for Jeep lift systems, due in no small part to their leaf springs designs. Black Diamond springs have soft spring rates that give you full suspension articulation and unbeatable ride quality. The individual leaf plate ends are tapered, and anti-friction pads are positioned at the leaf tips where friction is greatest. The springs also feature double-wrapped eyes (military wraps) for exceptional durability and increased safety.
Two design elements are specifically incorporated to reduce spring stress. First, the tension side of each leaf plate is shot-peened. Secondly, the springs feature a relatively flat seat (where the spring mates to the axle), so the spring pack is not "fighting "the clamping force generated by the U-bolts. Reducing stress extends life.. its not just for humans anymore.
1941-1975 models use press-fit, steel encased rubber spring eye bushings; they work best on these applications. Urethane spring eye bushings are used on all other models. New U-bolts with self-locking hardware are provided Black Diamond recommends their dropped pitman arm 1976-1986 models. They also offer steering stabilizers, 1", 2" and 3" body lifts, add-a-leaf kits, extended-length Department of Transportation (DOT) approved rubber break hoses, replacement Urethane bushing kits and AT Shock Absorbers.
Note that lift height is based on factory ride height. If you stock springs have never been replaced or refurbished they have undoubtedly settled quite a bit; expect up to 1" additional lift height. Also, take time to closely inspect all of your vehicle's suspension-to-frame attachment points, and its entire steering and brake systems for signs of wear and / or fatigue.
Why is my vehicle not listed on the application chart?
Bottom line, if they make a Suspension System for your vehicle, then chances are we
can get it. There are a lot of different applications for Suspension
Systems, unfortunately we don't have them all available to order on our website.
If you don't see your vehicle, or you just have a question regarding lift kits, feel free
